Synonym for Lacerta armeniaca (Méhely, 1909) , the species was previously included in the genus Green Lizards .
Parthenogenetic species, all individuals are females that have a triploid set of chromosomes. The species arose as a result of interspecific hybridization of two parent species - Lacerta valentini and L. mixta .
The Armenian lizard is widespread in the mountains in the north-west and north of Armenia , adjacent areas of southern Georgia and western Azerbaijan . In 1967, the species was introduced to Ukraine for scientific purposes, where it formed a stable population in the rocky canyon of the Teterev River in the Zhytomyr Region .
The abundance of the species is high and stable.
