Biography
Paulina Rubio Dosamantes was born in Mexico City in the family of actress Susana Dosamantes and lawyer Enrique Rubio. She has a younger brother Enrique. Paulina took music and dance lessons from the age of five. She began her musical career in 1982 in the children's pop group Timbiriche , led by Miguel Bose , and left the group in 1991 after recording 10 albums.
EMI: Golden Time
In 1991, Paulina Rubio left Timbiriche and focused on her solo career. She moved to Spain to work on a solo project. In 1992, her debut album La Chica Dorada was released on the EMI label. The title of the album became the nickname of Paulina, which in Latin America is called "La chica Dorada." The single " Mío " from this album quickly gained popularity. By 1997, La Chica Dorada's album was recognized as diamond: over 1.2 million copies were sold worldwide [1] . This album is considered the best work of the singer with a record company. The following albums became: 24 kilos , El Tiempo Es Oro . The 1996 album Planeta Paulina was Paulina 's last work on EMI Music .
Paulina (2000-2001)
In 2000, she signed a contract with the Universal Music Group , which made her famous on the world stage. Paulina's album ranks first in 2001 in sales, and twice becomes a diamond in Mexico with 2,000,000 copies sold.
Paulina was released in Italy, Turkey, Brazil, the UK and Portugal. Due to the success of the singles “Lo Hare Por Ti”, “El último adios”, “Yo No Soy Esa Mujer” and “Y Yo Sigo aquí” this album has sold over 5,000,000 copies worldwide.
Border Girl and other albums (2002—2008)
In 2002, she released Border Girl [2] , an album that went gold in the US [3] , Canada, Italy and Japan, the first single of which was “ Don't Say Goodbye ”. In 2004, she released her third international album, Pau-Latina, with singles such as “ The Quise Tanto ” and “ Dame Otro Tequila ”, which took first place in the charts in Latin America and the United States.
In 2006, she released Ananda , which was a multi-platinum album in the US and some Latin American countries. In total, Paulina has sold over 20 million records throughout her career from 1992 to 2008.
2009-present: Gran City Pop
The ninth studio album Gran City Pop was released on June 23, 2009. Gran City Pop was sold in more than 300,000 copies in its first week of release, and went platinum in the US and gold in Mexico. The first single “Causa y Efecto” (translated from Spanish - “Cause and Effect”) reached the first place on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart, took 1st place on the charts of Mexico , Spain , Colombia and other Latin American countries.
The second single, Gran City Pop, " Ni rosas ni juguetes " (translated from Spanish - "No Roses, No Toys") was also very successful; On November 11, 2009, an official remix was released for this song, and then a video clip.
Personal life
In 2007-2013, Paulina was married to a public relations specialist Nicholas Vallejo-Nacher. The former spouses have a son - Andrea Nicholas Vallejo-Naher Rubio (b. 11/14/2010).
Since 2013, Paulina is in fact married to singer Gerardo Basua. The couple has a son - Eros Basua Rubio (born 05.03.2016) [4] .
