Creation History
Max Martin , a well-known Swedish producer and songwriter, with whom the Backstreet Boys have a warm relationship, took part in creating the song. He was the author of such hits of the group as “ Everybody (Backstreet's Back) ”, “I want it that way” , “Larger than life” and “Show me the meaning of being lonely” . The band met him at dinner when they visited Stockholm as part of a concert tour in support of their previous album, “Unbreakable” .
According to AJ MacLean [1] : “We met him during the tour in support of the last album to just make sure that he was interested at all. Obviously, he was busy with Pink , Kelly Clarkson and similar artists. He sent us the song under called “Bigger” and we really liked it - it's like the new “I want it that way.” It’s one of the reasons why we had such popular hits. " Howie Dorough explained [2] : “This is such a wonderful song. Listen to her, it's a traditional Backstreet Boys song. When people hear her, they will think: "Eh, these are our guys."
The “Bigger” variant was considered as the name for the album, but the group abandoned this idea, since such a name could be misinterpreted by the media as “manifestation of megalomania [3] .

Music video
The video was shot in Tokyo on October 2, 2009 during a band promotion in Japan . This is the first video of the group filmed outside the US [4] . The director of the video was Frank Borin. The shooting was originally planned in Los Angeles a week before the start of the promotion. Due to rehearsals for the upcoming concert tour ( This Is Us Tour ) and the presence of one free day in the schedule of promotional trips in Japan, the group decided to postpone the shooting for this day.
The video does not have a script. The members of the group decided to move away from the traditional clips of love stories and shoot something unusual. During the video they are in Tokyo on vacation. In Japan, there are strict restrictions on video shooting, so the group managed to shoot only part of the planned scenes (for example, it was not possible to agree on shooting in the center of slot machines) [4] . Backstreet Boys perform a song while walking around the city, talking with locals, sightseeing, and also against the backdrop of giant electronic clocks, in karaoke and Japanese so-called. "Maid cafe" (cafe with handmaidens). There is an alternative version of the clip, the so-called. directorial version. There are no scenes in the background of a giant electronic clock.
The premiere of the video took place on November 2 on several sites on the Internet, including the group’s official page [5] . In the debut week, the video clip took 1st place in the frequency of views on the popular AOL Music website, leaving behind such artists as: Shakira , Britney Spears , Miley Cyrus . On November 8, the video dropped to second place, losing to Shakira’s video “Did It Again”> [6] .
