Biography

Mikhail Loskutov was born on September 24, 1906 in Kursk in the family of a railway engineer .

At the age of fifteen he began his journalistic career, at the age of sixteen he took the post of editor of the regional Komsomol newspaper “The Voice of Workers and Peasants Youth”. Permanent author of the newspaper Kurskaya Pravda .

In 1926 he moved to Leningrad . He was published with essays and feuilleton in the journal "Young Proletarian" and in the newspaper " Change ". In 1928, his first book was published - a collection of short stories and feuilletons "The End of the Philistine Lane."

In 1929, co-authored with Sergey Urnis, wrote a small book - “The Golden Void”. In the same year he published his third book - "Conquered from Vodka."

In 1929, Mikhail Loskutov traveled to Central Asia , about which three years later he wrote in his book The Thirteenth Caravan. “Against the background of documentary prose about the beginning of“ socialist construction, ”the book compares favorably with the spontaneity and freshness with which it shows“ desert development ”.” [one]

He possessed a talent for laconic and well-aimed humor. But above all, and most of all, he was a talented and damn talented writer. His writer's vision was distinguished by extraordinary vigilance. In 1933, he participated in a rally along the route Moscow - Karakum - Moscow, after which he published a new book entitled "Stories about Roads." In 1935-1938, Loskutov worked on a series of stories about Central Asia.

The stories and articles of Loskutov in the thirties often appeared on the pages of Literaturnaya Gazeta .

His books were published: “The End of the Philistine Lane” (1928), “Tales of the Roads” (1935), “The Thirteenth Caravan” (1938), and others.

Loskutov was arrested on January 12, 1940. On July 6, 1941, he was sentenced by the Military Collegium of the Supreme Court of the USSR on charges of participation in a counter-revolutionary terrorist organization. Shot on July 28, 1941. Rehabilitated in 1956. [2]
