Biography
- Born on October 5, 1939 in Kharkov in a working class family. In 1957, he graduated from high school No. 53 in Kharkov with a silver medal.
- In 1957, he worked as a fitter at the Department of Theory of Aircraft Engines of the Kharkov Higher Aviation Military Engineering School .

Scientific achievements
The works are devoted to the development and generalization of the method of R-functions (functions of V. L. Rvachev ), which is widely used in the calculation of various physical fields for objects of complex shape. In addition, the theory of R-functions is used as the main way to describe the synthesized geometry of the structural and layout schemes of spacecraft (SC) and its components.
A methodology for constructing mathematical models and algorithms relating to the processing of spatio-temporal fields, and the construction of radio engineering and radiometric systems for their processing has been developed and implemented in airborne and ground-based special-purpose systems.
A series of studies has been carried out on the influence of a statistically heterogeneous propagation medium on the quality indicators of measuring radio systems, optimization of signal processing with this effect in mind, processing of physical fields in remote sensing systems of underlying surfaces based on analysis of radar and radiometric information in determining electrodynamic parameters, as well as spatial characteristics of the propagation medium .
He developed and first applied the mathematical apparatus of atomic functions (AF) to the construction of new weighting functions (windows) for digital processing of signals, images and radio fields, and also managed to find a solution to the joint use of AF and number-theoretic methods.
First applied the AF theory to solving problems of physical electronics, analysis and synthesis of antennas, including fractal emitters. A new class of WA-systems of functions is constructed and justified. A new type of equivalent boundary conditions proposed by V.F. Kravchenko made it possible to significantly expand the range of scientific problems that arise in solving boundary value problems of the electrodynamics of superconducting structures. The results of V.F. Kravchenko on digital signal processing are used in problems of modeling physical processes in modern gyroscopy.
Scientific and pedagogical work
For 24 years, has been conducting scientific and pedagogical work at the Department of Higher Mathematics, FN-1, MSTU. N. E. Bauman .
Many of the scientific results of V.F. Kravchenko are used in reading special lecture courses at the MSTU. N. E. Bauman , Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (State University) , Moscow State University M.V. Lomonosov and other universities in Russia, as well as Belarus and Ukraine.
He prepared 11 doctors of sciences and 17 candidates of sciences.

In 2001, 2002 and 2005 in Mexico, under the scientific supervision of V.F. Kravchenko, three international seminars on the mathematical modeling of physical processes in heterogeneous media were held for the first time.
