History
Gulf County was formed in 1925 . It got its name due to its location on the shores of the Gulf of Mexico ( English gulf - gulf). Initially, the city of Veuohichka became the district center, in which the building of the 1927 district court is still preserved. In 1965, administrative institutions were moved to Port St. John, where in 1838 the first constitutional convention was held (then the city was called St. Joseph).
