Gilchrist County - The county of Florida, United States of America . For 2000, 14,437 people lived in it. According to the United States Census Bureau, in 2005 the county had a population of 16,402. [1] The district center is the city of Trenton . Gilchrist County remains an agrarian area and still retains the charm of the “old south”, unlike the southern regions of Florida. The county is more like Alabama or Georgia than most of Florida.

History
Gilchrist County is the youngest county in Florida. It was formed in 1925 . He was named after Albert Gilchrist , Governor of Florida from 1909 to 1913 .
