Ivan Polytev ( November 25, 1914, Gomel , February 8, 2004, Minsk ) - Soviet, Belarusian party and statesman, chairman of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee (1956–57), first secretary of the Gomel Regional Committee of the CPSU (1957–64 ), First Secretary of the Minsk Regional Committee of the CPSU (1964–77), Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the BSSR , Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the USSR (1977–85).

Biography
He graduated from the Higher School of Economics under the Central Committee of the All-Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks in 1949.
Since 1939, at the Komsomol work,
in 1942-1943 - Member of the partisan movement in the territory of the Belarusian SSR.
In the post-war period, he was at the Komsomol and party work - the first secretary of the Gomel, Minsk regional committees of the Komsomol, since 1949 he headed the Vitebsk city committee, Rechitsa district party committee.
In 1956-1957 Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Gomel Regional Council,
in 1957-1964 First Secretary of the Gomel Regional Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus,
in 1964-1977 First Secretary of the Minsk Regional Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus,
in 1977-1985 Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the Belarusian SSR, Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the USSR.
Member of the Central Committee of the CPSU in 1966–86 ( candidate for membership in the Central Committee of the CPSU in 1961–66). Member of the CPSU since 1940. Member of the Council of the Union of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of 5–11 convocations (1958–1989) from the Minsk region [1] .
Since 1985 - retired.
Awards and titles
Hero of Socialist Labor (1973). He was awarded four orders of Lenin, orders of the October Revolution, World War I degree, two orders of the Red Banner of War, the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, many medals.
