Biography
After the Doges were two representatives of the Galbayo family, in 804 the Obelerio family managed to interrupt the creation of the hereditary monarchy and nominate Antenoreo Obelerio to the Doges. Under him, Venice tried to enter the state of the Franks on the basis of extended autonomy. In 805, he visited Aachen and married a Frankish lodge. However, soon when Charlemagne demanded from Venice recruits, ships and money in the war against Dalmatia, he was refused. Charlemagne attacked Venice . This prompted the city, in turn, to switch sides and support the Greek fleet in the fight against the Franks. In order to achieve a political compromise, the ruling circles of Venice elected Doge Agnello Partecipazio , who led the defense of the city all this time. Obelerio resigned in 809 . Having lived in exile in Constantinople, he returned in 829 with the goal of a coup. After he was arrested by the Doge Giovanni Partecipazio and beheaded in 831.
