Short Biography

In 1979 he graduated from the Moscow Art Academy, then he studied at the graduate school (supervisor - professor I.P. Ignatieva).

In 1983 he defended his thesis (theme "Morphogenesis of the vegetative organs of grassy polycarpics with shoots of tuberculosis ( Solanum tuberosum L. and Helianthus tuberosus L. )"), in 1999 - his doctoral dissertation (theme "On patterns of ontogenesis of a clone on the example of stolon forming grassy polycarics ").

He worked as a researcher in the Botanical Garden of the Moscow Art Academy . Since 1990 - lecturer at the Department of Botany at the Moscow Agricultural Academy. In 2002, he was awarded the title of professor . Currently ( 2009 ) gives courses in cytology , anatomy , morphology and plant taxonomy .

Scientific Interests

Scientific interests are associated with morphogenesis (the process of forming structures) of the vegetative organs of flowering plants , as well as with the ontogenesis (life cycle) of plant clones , primarily clones of stolon forming herbaceous polycarps (plants blooming and bearing fruit more than once).

After many years of comparative study of various stolon-forming plants, he established the patterns of morphogenesis of the shoot and root systems of individual individuals and clones formed by the totality of these individuals. It was shown that the patterns of development of a clone as a whole do not coincide with the patterns of development of its constituent individuals; in stolon-forming herbaceous polycarps, three types of clones were isolated; From the morphogenetic point of view, an explanation was given to such an important phenomenon for agriculture as “ tuber growth ”, in which the apex and lateral buds of tubers begin to grow in the first year of their development, forming new stolons, tubers or aerial shoots.
