Sports career

Holland

Salehower began his career at the Holland Club [2] , which spent his matches on a football field near Sparndammerdeyk , within walking distance of the cemetery of Sint Barbara . The team also played his older brother Casper. In July 1908, Holland was absorbed [3] by the Amsterdam Ajax, who played a higher class, and Louis became a red-white player. The composition of the Amsterdam team was replenished with other Holland players, including Pete van den Brookke , Ton Coy and the Pelser brothers ( Adrian , Jop , Fons and Jan ) [2] .

Ajax

Louis made his debut in the main team of Ajax on January 9, 1910 in a match against Concordia from Delft , which ended in a draw 1: 1 [2] . Before that, Salehower played for the second Ajax team [2] . In the 1910/1911 season, Louis became the main player on the team and quite often scored goals. On October 30, 1910, Salehower scored a double into the goal of the Amsterdam club RAP , in that game Ajax won 4-0 [2] . A week later, Louis again marked himself with a double, this time, with a score of 3: 0, the Volharding club was defeated [2] . May 21, 1911 was a historic date in the history of the club, Ajax moved to the first football class, which was the highest in the Netherlands in terms of level [4] .

In the 1911/1912 season, Louis remained the same as the main player [2] , having played all 18 championship matches. In the debut season at the highest level of Dutch football, Ajax finished 8th out of ten possible, the team miraculously avoided relegation [2] . In the same season, the team first made a trip abroad, Salehower with the team went to Austria-Hungary . On May 23, 1912, the Ajax players left for Amsterdam Central Station. “Ajax” played its first foreign game in Budapest with the two- time Hungarian club MTK , which turned out to be too strong a rival; MTK defeated “Ajax” with a score of 5: 1. Ajax held their second match in Vienna against the Wiener club, the Amsterdam team lost again, but this time with a score of 2: 0. Matches with foreign teams became the last for Louis in Ajax.
