Biography
He began his musical career in the Riga construction battalion of the Soviet Army, where, on the initiative of the commander, Colonel Ilya Petrovich Petrov, the talented organizer of amateur performances Vladilen Markovich Lando gathered talented conscript musicians [2] , creating the legendary ensemble Zvaigznte in 1963. There Vanzovic met Sigmar Liepins . As for many Latvian musicians, participation in the popular army ensemble gave Vanzović not only good income while still in service (he received 300 rubles during demobilization), but also a ticket to the big stage: after the end of his service, he was enrolled in the philharmonic society for a year [2] [3 ] ] .
Imantou's all-Union popularity was brought by performances as part of VIA Opus , where he soloed with Mirdza Zivere . The name "Opus" was coined by Wanzowitz himself [2] . With the song “ You Need to Think About It ”, the duo won an award at the “Song-84” festival . The head of the ensemble was Sigmar Liepins, Imant participated in his other projects. In 1988, he collaborated with him for the last time when he sang the part of Byaki Kangars in the rock opera Lachplesis [4] . Together with Zivere, they became the first Latvians in GITIS , where they were trained for stage directors and mass performances [2] .
In the 1990s, Imant tried to return to the stage, for which, together with Ugis Praulins, he put on the poetry of Ojar Vatsietis to music, however, these deep, philosophical things were not popular with the public, which prompted him to complete his career as a singer [4] .
In the 2000s, Imant staged water-music shows and is the official representative of the French company Aquatique show international , also heads the company Imishow International Ltd, which collaborates with them [2] . In 2009, he participated in elections to the Council of Garkalnsky Krai .
Personal life
By nationality - Latvian . He was married 3 times [5] . His first wife was a musicologist, now works as a director of state radio. The second wife, Inguna Vanzovich, was engaged with Imant in water-music shows around the world. With Inguna, Imant has at least a common child [4] . In 2009, Vanzovich’s former stage colleague Mirdza Zivere said in an interview that he is experiencing serious problems with alcohol consumption [4] [5] .
