People's Artist of the USSR ( 1959 ). Laureate of State Prizes of the Kazakh SSR (1972) and the USSR (1977). Hero of Socialist Labor (1986).

Biography

Ermek Serkebaev was born in the city of Petropavlovsk , in 1937 he moved with his parents to Alma-Ata. It comes from the genus Argyn of the Middle Zhuz [1] . In 1941 - 1943 he studied at the Alma-Ata College of Music named after P. Tchaikovsky in violin, in 1951 he graduated from the Kazakh Conservatory in singing with Professor A.M. Kurganova .

He made his debut on Kazakh radio , worked as an announcer .

Since 1947 - soloist of the Kazakh Opera and Ballet Theater. Abay ( Alma-Ata ).

Since 1973 he taught at the Kazakh Conservatory, taught a vocal class. Since 1982 - professor.

He also performed as a chamber and pop singer. In his repertoire were Kazakh folk songs, works of Russian and foreign composers

He toured in Romania (1953), Pakistan (1954), France (1955), India (1955), China (1956), Belgium (1960), Indonesia (1963), Switzerland , Sweden , Finland , Cuba , etc.

Repeated member and chairman of the jury of many reputable competitions of performers, including the International Competitions named after P.I. Tchaikovsky and M.I. Glinka .

Since 1988 - Chairman of the Board of the Union of Musical Figures of the Republic of Kazakhstan and member of the Presidium of the International Union of Musical Figures (Moscow). In recent years, he combined this position with the work of an adviser to the general director at the Kazakh State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater. Abay, where he also continued to perform on stage as a singer [2] .

Member of the CPSU from 1958 to 1991 . Member of the Supreme Council of the USSR of the 7th convocation. Member of the Supreme Council of the Kazakh SSR of the 8-11th convocations.

He was a member of the Committee on Lenin and State Prizes of the USSR under the Council of Ministers of the USSR and SM of Kazakhstan .

The last time in Moscow Serkebaev performed in the Great Hall of the Conservatory on September 21, 2006 with a solo concert in connection with the 80th anniversary [2] .

He died on November 16, 2013 in Alma-Ata . Buried at Kensai Cemetery

  • Father - Bekmukhamed Khusainovich Serkebaev (1896-1976) (according to national orders), teacher, writer, poet, playwright, one of the first members of the Writers Union of Kazakhstan, was a member of the Alash party, worked as an inspector of public education, taught the Kazakh language and literature at a technical school, then at a state pedagogical institute
  • Mother - Serkebaeva Zylikha Sabirovna (1906-1997) (in the Tatar national language), elementary school teacher

    • Son - Serkebaev Almas (b. 1948 ), composer, Honored Artist of the Kazakh SSR, laureate of the State Prize of Kazakhstan, moved to the United States in 1998 , lives with his family in Boston .
    • Son - Serkebaev Baigali (b. 1958 ), musician, leader of the popular group A-Studio , ( Moscow ).
  • The second wife is Ivanova Lidia Sergeevna.
    • Daughter - Irina Serkebaeva, journalist, writer, published a biographical book about her father “Ermek Serkebaev. And life, and youth, and happiness ”(2010), lives in the United States , in Florida [3] .
  • The third wife is Raushan.
  • The fourth wife is Bayzhanova Alfiya Usmanovna.
  • Brother - Serkebaev Murat Bekmuhamedovich (b. 1940 ), violinist, conductor, head of the chamber orchestra of the State Radio and Television of the Republic of Kazakhstan, People's Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan [4]
  • Niece - Serkebaeva Zhamilya Muratovna (b. 1970 ), violinist, honored worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Interesting Facts

  • In 1957, he played in the musical comedy of S. Aimanov , where he performed A. Zatsepin ’s song “The sky is blue above me”, which immediately became popular in the country [6] .
  • Figaro's part in the opera The Barber of Seville by J.
