Career

Dudu Georgescu began his career with the youth club Progresul in 1962, where his brother brought him. For each victory, young football players were given chocolates. On August 30, 1970, at the age of 20, he made his debut in the club’s first team, in a match with Cluj , which ended with Progressul 1-0 victory. For Progressul, Georgescu spent 3 more seasons. In 1973, he joined the ČSM club, where he played for six months and went to the camp of the leader of Romanian football, the Dynamo club (Bucharest) . In Dynamo, Giorgescu spent 10 seasons. With the club, he won the Romanian championship 4 times, 4 times was the silver medalist of the Romanian championship and 1 time won the Romanian Cup . He also played for Dynamo in European competition, where he scored 17 goals in 23 matches. Throughout his career at Dynamo, Georgescu suffered from injuries: he underwent two operations on his left shoulder, received several fractures, he had menisci removed on both legs, received a fracture of the tibia, and injured his ankles many times. Then he played in several more Romanian clubs, but did not achieve any special achievements.

In 1975 and 1977, Georgescu won the Golden Boot , a prize awarded by France Football to the European top scorer. Georgescu won the victory in the scorers dispute in the last rounds of the national championship, for example, in 1977, when he scored 47 goals, he scored 5 goals in the last match of the Romanian championship [2] .

After completing his career as a player, Giorgescu worked as a coach at CSM , Corvinul , Aquile (Giurgiu) , Dunerea and Zimbru . Georgescu now lives in Canada.

Dudu Georgescu has been legally married since 1972. He has a son, Dudu Georgescu the Younger, born in 1973 .
