The village is located on the Mshaga river, in the west of the Novgorod region and the Soletsky district, near the administrative border with the Pskov region . Near Vshlely, at a distance of 0.5-1.5 km, the villages of Borok are located in the north, the Nizy in the east, Terebuni in the south and Priborie 2 km in the west. A highway passes through the village from the A116 highway (from the bridge over Sitnya in Sitna ) to Utorgosh .

History
Vzhelsky churchyard was first mentioned in the scribe books of the Shelonsky pyatiny of Novgorod land of the 15th century. Until 1927, the village belonged to the Luga district of St. Petersburg province , then to the Soletsky district of the Novgorod district of the Leningrad region (the district was abolished in 1930), since 1944 in the Novgorod region.
In October 1919, here, near the upper Mshagi, the troops of the interventionists and White Guards were stopped on the far approaches to Novgorod, and in July 1941 a tank counterattack was launched from here near Soltsy . In February 1944, the Nazi occupiers were finally driven out of here. [2] .
