Club career
Vaduz
Burgmeier began his professional career at Vaduz , for which he played for five years from 2000 to 2005. He scored the first goal at the highest level against the Swiss Tuna 1898 on July 31, 2001. In the UEFA Cup 2002/03 at Rheinpark on August 15, 2002, Burgmeier scored his first European goal against the Scottish Livingston (the match ended 1-1), but this did not save Vaduz from defeat after two matches (on the road, the Liechtenstein team tied 0-0 and, as a result of a goal conceded in their field, did not go to the next round). On July 29, 2004, in a guest match of the first qualifying round of the UEFA Cup 2004/05 against the Irish Longford Town , Burgi scored his second goal in European cups and helped Vaduz win 3–2 (4–2 in the sum of two matches) and reach second round.
Twice (2004, 2005) he had a chance to enter the Swiss Super League with Vaduz, but both times the club lost in full-time confrontation to Xamax and Schaffhausen , respectively. During the performance for Vaduz five times became the winner of the Liechtenstein Cup .
Aarau
For “ Aarau ” Burgi spent 35 matches in which he scored one goal. He also managed to hit the opponents' goal in the first two rounds of the Swiss Cup . Aarau finished seventh in the Super League, and Burgmeier was named Best Player of the Year 2006 in Liechtenstein.
Basel 1893
In the offseason 2006, Burgmeier won the Watch Cup with Basel . On August 20, 2006, in the away match against Sion , he scored the first goal for Basel, which did not save his team from a 2-4 defeat. In 2007, he won the Swiss Cup with Basel. In the 2007/08 season, he spent only four matches in the Super League for Basel and was leased for six months to Thun .
Thun 1898
For Thun, Burgmeier spent 17 matches and reached the semifinal of the Swiss Cup. As a result of the championship, the club flew to the Challenge League .
Darlington
September 10, 2003 in Greater Manchester at the Old Trafford stadium, the Euro 2004 qualifying match between the teams of England and Liechtenstein took place . Among the 67 thousand fans gathered at the stadium was a seven-year-old boy Max Houston. Despite the fact that Liechtenstein was defeated in this match 0: 2, Max was struck by the stamina and work of Franz Burgmeyer. When Burgi terminated his contract with Basel in the summer of 2008, Max Houston, twelve-year-old at that time, offered to see his grandfather George Houston, chairman of the Darlington team, at the time. Having successfully passed the viewing, Franz, firmly aiming to try his hand abroad, signed a one-year contract with Darlington.
On September 13, 2008, Franz Burgmeier scored his first goal in England against Port Vale . Burgi became the owner of a kind of club record, within two months received four calls to his team - an unprecedented case for Darlington. Due to internal problems at the club’s administrative headquarters, Burgmeier was forced to leave Darlington at the end of the season, stopping at 2 goals in 35 matches.
Vaduz
In 2009, Franz Burgmeier returned to Vaduz. The debut of the old new club was in the confrontation with the Scottish Falkirk in the second qualifying round of the Europa League 2009/10 . Having suffered a 0-1 defeat in Falkirk , Vaduz was able to score the ball in the home game, moving the meeting to extra time (Burgi assisted Emil Noll ). And in overtime, Burgmeier's goal brought Vaduz a victory and reached the third qualifying round, where the Liechtenstein team lost 0-3 in the sum of two matches to the Slovenian Liberec .
Having completely failed the second round of the championship, Vaduz was content with the eighth position in the league , 18 points behind the second place. However, the club won the Liechtenstein Cup for the sixteenth time in a row and won the right to participate in the Europa League .
The 2010/11 season was no better for Vaduz. In the last nine matches of the championship, the team scored only nine points, missing the brilliant opportunity to increase in class: the club eventually lagged two points behind the coveted second place in the league . The traditional victory in the Cup of the country issued for the club a ticket to Europe .
The following year, Vaduz took only eighth place in the challenge league and generally ended the year without a single trophy.
The 2012/13 season again turned out to be a failure for the club, but in the final of the Liechtenstein Cup “Vaduz” in the penalty shootout broke the resistance of “ Balzers ”.
Liechtenstein Team
Franz Burgmaer calls the greatest moment of his career a 2-2 draw, which Liechtenstein managed to achieve on October 9, 2004 in the qualifying match for the 2006 World Cup with Portugal . Then, at the Rheinpark stadium, losing 0: 2 after the first half, the Liechtenstein team was able to turn the tide of the game and ended the match in a draw, and Burgmeier scored the first goal against the Portuguese.
