Vrastan ( Armenian Վրաստան , Georgia ) is a weekly republican social and political newspaper in Armenian, published in Georgia . The newspaper covers social and political events taking place in Georgia and abroad.

History
The newspaper was founded in 1920 under the name "Karmir Asth" (Red Star). In 1923 it was renamed “Martakoch” (Call to fight), in 1927 - into “Proletarian” (Proletarian), in 1939 - into “Horordain Vrastan” (Soviet Georgia). In 1940 it became known as “Sovetakan Vrastan” (Soviet Georgia), and in the early 1990s it received the modern name.
In the 1970s, the newspaper was published 3 times a week with a circulation of 40 thousand copies [1] . In the 1990s, the circulation was about 2 thousand copies [2] .
On December 29, 2010, the Armenian-language newspaper turned 90 years old. The presidents of Armenia and Georgia, who highly appreciated the merits of the editorial staff and the journalistic team of the Armenian-language newspaper of Georgia, congratulated Vrastan on the round date. Mikhail Saakashvili in his congratulatory message stated:
Of particular note is the professionalism and citizenship of the Vrastan collective, which adequately serves the honorable cause of strengthening good neighborliness between the two nations. |
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan also noted the role of “Vorstan” in bringing together the Armenian and Georgian peoples. He stressed that the example of the truly fraternal relations between the two nations is the 90-year history of the Vrastan newspaper [3]
