History
The car was presented as a "debugged version" of the McLaren MP4-18 . It was not the most successful car, which suffered at the beginning of the season from various problems related to reliability.
It turned out that not all MP4-18 “diseases” could be eliminated, so by the middle of the season the team had prepared a new modification of the car. The MP4-19B has become a new machine, with a radically modified aerodynamic package. The fact that Coulthard qualified third in the first race in a new car, the French Grand Prix , gave the team hope for a better ending to the season.
On the updated car Raikkonen managed to win the Belgian Grand Prix .
The team eventually finished fifth in the Constructors' Cup with 69 points.
