Positions itself as the successor to the closed in 1991 newspaper “ Cīьбаa ” (“Struggle”) - the former organ of the Central Committee of the Communist Party . In 1990, the Independent Communist Party, having split from the Communist Party, began to publish the newspaper “Neatkarīgā Cīņa” (from Latvian - “Independent Struggle”), which later became known as “Neatkarīgā Rīta Avīze”, and “Cīņa”, published by the Communist Party, was banned by the court in the fall 1991, after the ban of the party by decision of the Supreme Council.
