The Nikolaevsky Palace is a three-story residence of Grand Duke Nikolai Nikolaevich in the depths of a walled square on Blagoveshchenskaya Square in St. Petersburg (now Labor Square).

It was built in 1853-1861 by the famous eclectic master A.I. Shtakenschneider and his assistants August Lange and Karl Ziegler. At the palace there was a playpen and a church , consecrated in the name of the icon " All Who Sorrow Joy ", with a basement like the cave of the Holy Sepulcher . After the owner’s death in 1894, it was acquired by the treasury to house the Ksenia Alexandrovna Women's Institute .
After the revolution, it was placed at the disposal of the trade unions , which renamed it the “Palace of Labor”. Premises, some of which have retained the original finish, are now leased to commercial structures [1] .
