In 1926 he graduated from the Leningrad State University named after N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov , piano class at MH Barinova; in the composition class he studied with V.P. Calafati . In the same year he organized in Buinaksk ( Dagestan ) the first music school. He taught piano in Makhachkala, Samara, Leningrad; performed solo concerts as a pianist.
G. Hasanov led the first musical and artistic expedition to collect folk music. The expedition, departing from Buinaksk, passed along the route Arakany - Kudutl - Gergebil - Mogokh - Khunzakh - Chokh - Sogratl . During the expedition, a large amount of material was collected: 120 poetic texts and 100 folk melodies recorded on phonographic rollers. The materials of the expedition allowed G. Gasanov to write the scientific work “Songs of the Avars”, completed in 1927. G. Gasanov made a report at a meeting of the ethnographic section of the State Institute of Musical Science in Moscow in August 1927, having received recognition from the scientific community. G. Hasanov was awarded the degree of Corresponding Member of the National Anthem. In the same 1927, the compilation “Motives of the Dagestan dance: 12 lezgins performed by zurna” compiled by G. Gasanov and M. Dzhamalov was published. G. Hasanov was a teacher of such Dagestan musicians as Sergey Agababov, Seifullah Kerimov, Murad Kazhlaev, Shirvani Chalaev and others. G. Gottfried Hasanov is the author of the first Dagestan works of musical and theatrical genres. Hasanov wrote the children's ballet Karachach, the opera Khochbar, songs for the plays Aygazi, Lyubov Asiyat, etc.

I really love Dagestan and our people. ”
