SKY

The founders of the group, Oleg Sobchuk and Alexander Grischuk, studied together at the Galitsky College in Ternopil. In 2001, they gathered a group called SKY.

In a short time, the group gained fame, mainly in Western Ukraine , performing at the festivals of Chervona Ruta , Perlini season , Tavria games and other less significant ones.

In 2005, the team took part in the project Fresh Blood on the music channel M1 , this was the real beginning of popularity. Edward Klim, one of the jury members and founder of Lavina Music , appreciated the style and music of SKY, so he invited them to sign a contract.

After starting work with Klim, the name of the group began to be written with dots - “S. K.A. Y. At the same time, the tracks that later became part of the album “You Can't Drive You Tank,” were released into rotation on 25 Ukrainian radio stations ^[1] . Immediately on the song of the same name, as well as the songs "Remix" and "Those That Are Required", the clips were shot. Sobchuk himself describes the last track as a “romantic ballad”. The wife of Oleg Sobchuk became the heroine of the video for the song “You can be driven in.”

In 2006, on the same label Lavina Music, the debut album “What You Need” comes out with a song of the same name, which also quickly becomes popular. Musicians of the group experiment with music: in the first album there are both dynamic, vigorous songs, and serious, lyrical tracks.

In 2007 there are clips on the tracks "What is my name" and "Best Friend". In the last video, the viewer's attention is drawn to the problem of people living with HIV : the participants of the video - people who learn about a HIV-positive result from one of their friends, leave him alone, only one friend remains with him, this is Oleg Sobchuk. There is no such message in the words of the song.

On October 31, 2007, the second album of the Planet group, C. K. A. Y. , was presented. Soloist Oleg Sobchuk described this album in the following way: “We wanted to show our vision of real music. Music about things that are truly valuable in life. This is our unique planet - Planet Skya ” ^[1] .

In 2008, the group received the NePops award from the Jam FM radio station, Oleg Sobchuk, won the nomination “Best vocalist”, and the nomination “The best album of the year” won the album “Planet S.K.Y.Y.” ^[2]

In May 2008, the song “Give Light” was released, the song was recorded in two versions: in the lyric and rock versions. Also recorded clips for both audio versions of the same song. The same year, the group performed in a concert tour in the cities of Ukraine, Russia and Belarus, dedicated to the 1020th anniversary of the Baptism of Russia , as well as headliners of the promotional tour “Djuice Music Drive 2008” arranged by the Ukrainian virtual mobile operator Djuice .

In 2009, the group received two statues of “NePops” from Jam FM Radio: the clip “Give Light” then won in the nomination “Best Clip of the Year”, and a concert tour with the participation of the groups DDT and the Brothers Karamazov was marked as “Best Tour of the Year”. This year, the band performs in the Polish Lublin at a music festival dedicated to the “Because I Was a Stranger” event.

In 2010, the third album entitled “!” Was released, which includes tracks recorded by a duet with tercio and Dmitry Muravitsky (Murik) from Green Gray . Music critic Vladimir Malyshenko commented on this album in the following way: “One of the bands that showed great hopes for a breakthrough in the domestic showbiz, but to this day the skis do not ride. However, the collective does not give up and has already published the third album, which is not fundamentally different from the two previous ones ” ^[3] . In May of the same year, the group became the winner of the Favorite of Success Award in the nomination “Male Group”.

In September 2011, the performance at the festival antiMONEY in Kamenetz-Podolsk .

In September 2012, the group performs at a charity concert with other well-known Ukrainian groups, the purpose of the concert is to raise funds for the purchase of reagents for diagnostics and drugs for people with cancer for the National Cancer Institute. Together with the group in Kiev StereoPlaza were Druha Rika , Boombox , Okean Elzy , Krokha , O. Torvald , Bahroma ^[4] .

In 2013, the group received a second award from the project "NePops", this time in the nomination "Best Acoustic Program". ^[five]

In 2014, the fourth album "The Edge of the Sky". The recording took place at several studios, and Oleg Sobchuk's wife, Maria, took part in the recording of the vocal of the song “While love is alive”.

On November 28 of the same year, the group will present the concert show “S. KA Y. ALIVE ”accompanied by a 2.5-hour chamber orchestra. In addition to the audience in the hall, the performance could be watched in the online broadcast. The concert was divided into two parts: lyrical and dynamic.

In February 2015, the group held a charitable two-week tour of the major cities of Canada : Winnipeg , Vancouver , Saskatoon and Toronto . The musicians performed acoustic versions of their songs, and all the funds raised were sent to a charity foundation for victims of the war in the east of Ukraine .

In 2016, the group celebrated the 15th anniversary, in connection with which the anniversary tour was held. In particular, in February, they played concerts in London , Dublin and Paris .
