OpenKids (pronounced English OpenOffice for kids , Russian. Oupenis for children ) - office suite for educational purposes. Developed on the basis of OpenOffice.org and is its light version:
- intended for an audience of 7 to 12 years old;
- adapted to educational needs;
- works on all common operating systems ( Windows , Linux , Mac OS X )

Seeing the demand for a lightweight office suite based on OOo4Kids, OOoLight was created, differing mainly in more serious design.
Apparently, the project is abandoned, as of October 2018, the official website has been working with significant errors [1] , since December 2013, not a single new version of OOo4Kids and OOoLight products [2] has been released .
Package Contents
The OOo4Kids package, as well as part of OpenOffice.org, includes the following applications:
- OOo4Kids Writer (word processor)
- OOo4Kids Draw (vector graphics editor)
- OOo4Kids Impress (presentation wizard)
- OOo4Kids Calc (spreadsheet processor)
- OOo4Kids Math (Formula Editor)
The appearance and purpose of the OOo4Kids applications generally coincide with similar OpenOffice.org applications, but they are simplified, have fewer functions, and are child-centered. In particular, the package is ported to an inexpensive children's laptop XO-1 [3] .
Up to version 1.0, the Russian-language interface was missing. It appeared only in version 1.1.
