Biography
He graduated from the All-Union Correspondence Engineering Institute in 1953.
- In 1944-1954 - worked at the Leningrad machine-tool plant named after Y. M. Sverdlova,
- since 1954 - at party work.
- In 1965-1970 - First Secretary of the Kalinin District Committee of the Communist Party of the City of Leningrad.
- In 1970-1973 - Second Secretary of the Leningrad Regional Committee of the CPSU,
- in 1973-1976 Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Leningrad City Council,
- in 1976-1989 - Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the RSFSR ,
- in 1989-1993 - Chairman of the Central Election Commission for the Election of People's Deputies of the RSFSR - RF .
Member of the Central Committee of the CPSU in 1971–81 (candidate for membership in the Central Committee of the CPSU in 1981–90). Member of the CPSU since 1947. Member of the Council of Nationalities of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR (1974-89) from the Bashkir Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic .
People's Deputy of the USSR (1989–91).
He opened the First Congress of People's Deputies of the RSFSR as Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the RSFSR on May 16, 1990 and held its meetings until the election of May 29 B.N. Yeltsin as Chairman of the Supreme Council of the RSFSR [1] .
Since 1993, retired.
He was buried in Moscow at the Troekurovsky cemetery [2] .
