After graduating from high school and seminary, he became a clergyman in the Jewish community of his hometown, but in 1863 he went to Berlin and studied for four years at the Stern Conservatory , where among his teachers were Friedrich Kiel (composition), Hugo Schwanzer (organ) and himself The head of the conservatory Julius Stern (conducting). In 1868 - 1879 taught piano at the New Academy of Musical Art . Soon after leaving the Academy, Breslauer organized the Berlin Union of Music Teachers, later transformed into an all-German organization.
Breslaur owns numerous teaching and methodological aids, among which stand out “The Technical Fundamentals of the Piano Game” ( German Die Technische Grundlage der Klavierspiels ; 1874 ) and the three-volume “Clavier School” ( German Klavierschule ), which survived the author's 18 editions. Since 1878 , Breslauer published and edited the magazine “The Clavier Teacher” ( German: Der Klavierlehrer ).
