In the past, the Brahma chicken breed was praised for its meat qualities. Adult cocks were so heavy that they could hardly stand on their feet. Their mass reached 7.0 kg. Young growth was characterized by a high growth rate.

Over time, the breed has lost its productive qualities. When selecting each subsequent generation, they mainly paid attention to external decorative features: magnificent plumage of the body and legs, while neglecting productive qualities.

Currently, Brama chickens are bred to decorate the yard, and it has acquired a decorative value. In the region, lovers mainly breed light and dark brama, although there is also fawn, partridge and red.

The head is small, with an underdeveloped nape; the frontal bone is wide, with the superciliary arches protruding forward. Tibia rounded and abundantly covered with fluffy feathers. Metatarsus yellow, thick, medium length, well-feathered from the outside. The fingers are yellow, long, on the outside and the outer edge of the middle feathered.

The main disadvantages: Too weak plumage of the metatarsus. Unrefined middle finger. Curved or single comb. Narrow back, flat chest. White earlobes. Too high legs.

Description

Brahma's hens begin to rush late, at 7.5-8 months. Egg production 100-120 eggs per year. In chickens older than 2 years, egg production drops sharply. The mass of the egg is 56-60 g. The live weight of light hens is 3.0 kg, roosters are 4.0 kg, dark shrimp weighs 0.5 kg more.

Bramah chickens grow slowly, and hatched later than June may not winter. Young growth over 4-5 months must be kept separate from young growth of other breeds, as well as adult birds.

The chicken instinct is very developed, but it is better not to use them for hatching, since about a third of the eggs can be crushed. If necessary, it is better to place duck or goose eggs under these hens, making a nest right on the ground.

And for breeding chickens, hybrids of chicken with egg or other smaller breeds are better suited. Their instinct for incubation is preserved, and their weight is 1.0-1.5 kg less than the brama.

Our chickens (where?) Are the second largest chickens (first bentamka ), but there are very few individuals that meet breed standards, the reasons are closely related breeding , pairing of chickens of different varieties among themselves, as well as with kokhinkhins and other breeds. And yet, if desired, and after consultation with experienced poultry farmers, you can buy good birds.
