About the album
Rainbow Bridge includes the continuation of the tracks that Hendricks intended to release along with the album The Cry Of Love on his next double album called First Rays of the New Rising Sun. All the songs on the album were written by Hendrix, except The Star - Spangled Banner. The songs were recorded throughout 1969 and 70, except for the song "Look Over Yonder", which was recorded in 1968, the song "Hear My Train A Comin "was recorded at the Community Theater in Berkeley on May 30, 1970. It was Hendrix's second posthumous album. Also, like The Cry Of Love, it was finalized by Mitch Mitchell and Eddie Kramer with the help of John Jansen and was also quite well received, reaching # 15 and # 16 in the USA and the UK respectively. "Dolly Dagger" and "Star Spangled Banner" came out as singles on the album, but reached only 74 positions ii. The album also got some songs made for the same movie Hendrix Rainbow Bridge, but were later released on other albums.
