The village is located on the right bank of the Luga River, near the villages of Zmeeva Gora (3 km, northwest) and Obkoli (2 km, southeast). 12 km to the north-west there is a village with a similar name - Khocheni and Khochenskoye Lake.
History
By a resolution of the Novgorod Regional Duma of June 23, 2004, the village of Khochun on the territory of the Kositsky Village Council [2] was given the status of a settlement, the name was approved by a resolution of the Government of the Russian Federation of February 25, 2005 [3] , as a name that reflects the most characteristic features of a geographical object and area, which is located [4] . Hochuns are mentioned here in the scribe books of the Vodskaya Pyatina of Novgorod land in 1500 in the Assumption Sabelsky churchyard - Khochyuzya or Khochyunts , in 1568 - Khochyun and Khochyunets [5] . In the Novgorod district of the Novgorod province - the village of Khochuni was in Samokrazhsky volost. In the years 1918-1950. in the village there was the Red Khochuni collective farm, then the Khochuni village and the collective farm belonged to the Samokrazhsky village council of the Batetsky district [6] .
