Starodubov, Kirill Fedorovich

Kirill Fedorovich Starodubov ( April 19, 1904 , Moscow - October 8, 1984 , Dnepropetrovsk ) - Soviet scientist in the theory of heat treatment of steel, professor, doctor of technical sciences, teacher and public figure.

Biography

Born on June 16 , 1904 in Moscow in a family of employees.

Since 1914 he lives in Yekaterinoslav . He graduated with honors from the classical gymnasium. He began his career as an apprentice fitter at the Bryansk Metallurgical Plant .

In 1928 he graduated with honors from the Dnepropetrovsk Mining Institute . He worked at the Dnepropetrovsk Metallurgical Plant named after Petrovsky .

In 1938-1978 he was the head of the department of heat treatment of metals of the Dnepropetrovsk Metallurgical Institute .

In 1941-1944, while being evacuated to Magnitogorsk , he introduced the technology of manufacturing molds from liquid blast iron, as a result, steel production for military equipment increased. I studied the effect of changes in mechanical properties during the third transformation during tempering, explaining its nature - this phenomenon is called the “Starodubov effect” [1] .

In 1946 he defended his doctoral dissertation .

Since 1948 - a corresponding member .

In 1957 he was elected an academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR .

Until 1979 , he worked at the Institute of Ferrous Metallurgy of the Ministry of Ferrous Metallurgy of the USSR - head of the laboratory , head of the department.

Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of the Ukrainian SSR, laureate of the USSR Council of Ministers Prize in the field of science and technology, doctor of technical sciences, professor, scientist in the theory of heat treatment of steel, holder of the orders of Lenin and the October Revolution, 4 orders of the Red Banner of Labor , 13 medals. 45 years in science, author of 12 monographs, more than 500 scientific papers, 70 copyright certificates and foreign patents. Over the course of 16 years, he was elected three times as a deputy and all three convocations was deputy chairman of the Supreme Council of the Ukrainian SSR .

He died in 1984 in Dnepropetrovsk . He was buried at the Zaporizhzhya cemetery .

  • In honor of Academician Starodubov, the square in the city of Dnipro, where the Institute of Ferrous Metallurgy is located, is named.
  • A memorial plaque was installed on the house of Gagarin Ave. 2, where Kirill Fedorovich Starodubov lived and worked.
  • A memorial plaque is installed on the building of the Central Clinical Hospital of the Petrovsky Metallurgical Plant .
