Criticism
Pyzhenkov is known for his critical work on Academician Nikolai Vavilov [3] [4] [5] . As noted in the open letter of the VIR Academic Council [3] :
the subjective, and most importantly dishonorable, representation of his image by V. I. Pyzhenkov, cannot but evoke in us a feeling of extreme bewilderment and protest. After the opuses of this author began to quote one of the most widely read newspapers in the country, the VIR Academic Council is forced to declare its extremely negative attitude to the “creative work” of V. I. Pyzhenkov, discrediting the memory of a great scientist - the glory of Russian and world science ... ... a favorite creative Reception V.I. Pyzhenkov: searching for some, in his opinion, impartial facts and inconsistencies in the biography and scientific work of N. I. Vavilova. In this case, the facts, pulled out of the historical and semantic context, often acquire his meaning, the opposite of the true state of affairs. The works of this author are replete with factual errors ..., the substitution of concepts, moralizing. As a result, Pyyzhenkov’s stated not only did not comply with ethical standards, but also by scientific and historical facts ... The citation of Pyzhenkov seems to be the height of extreme cynicism ...: "His world-famous discoveries did bring him world-wide fame, but his tragic death." During Nikolai Ivanovich’s lifetime, world-renowned scientists assessed his work and the work of VIR, headed by him, as deserving to be put "... in first place among our achievements ...", as "the most important monument for the application of science to agriculture during this century" ...
