Creativity
Painting
1978-1980 became a period of experimentation in various techniques, systems and aesthetic formulas. The turning point in the work was a nine-month trip to the United States , where Solomukha exhibited in New York , Boston , Cleveland , Washington , Philadelphia .
In 1981, 1982, 1983, as a stage designer, she participated in the Chamber Music Festival ( Lockenhaus Kammermusikfest), where he was invited by violinist Gidon Kremer .
The influence of classical music , acquaintances with great musicians can be traced in the paintings of this period.
In 1985, the Les Grands Mythes project attracted the attention of Thomas Krings-Ernst, whose gallery in Cologne held regular solo exhibitions until 1989.
In 1988, two paintings by Anton Solomukha were acquired by the Ludwig Museum .
Until 2002, important projects in the painting were the series “Boxers”, “Intime corruption”, “Mechanical Toys”, “Les mythes et les limites”, “Jazz”. These series are characterized by a search for formal expressive means to contrast the various structures of thinking, and close attention to everything paradoxical . His ideological, aesthetic and ethical positions were formed under the influence of French critics Bernard Lamarche-Wadel and Michelle Anrisi.
A series of paintings " Allegories " 1979-2002. much more figurative and picturesque. Quoting works of the Baroque era, the search for heroes and antiheroes, based on serious compositional structures, undergoes constant changes, often under the influence of a photo image.
Photography
In search of new expressive means, a new pictorial language, the Solomukha painter more and more often turns to photography . In 1990, close acquaintance with Robert Duano . In 1995, he has been drawing for a long time with Henri Cartier-Bresson . Both acquaintances strongly influence the decision to devote oneself to photography. Since 2002, photography has become the main field of creativity.
The first episodes of “La fille au bilboque”, “Les sexes des anges”, “I fuck your TV” are characterized by the choice of a confined space, dark backgrounds, the presence of a mirror as a “character” to build an ironic or poetic plot that takes its toll roots in historical myths, bible plots. The idea of fixing these projects is the rejection of social, temporary, "reporting". The connection with painting is becoming more apparent and becoming the main theme in the series of monumental photo compositions “ Little Red Riding Hood visited the Louvre ”.
Large square and “panoramic” compositions are only technically photographs, but I decide, they are built as paintings, like paintings. This lays the foundation for a new genre in contemporary art, "photo-painting."
Photo-paintings of this series represent a stage space with a dark background, filled with actors-characters, as if they had just come from modern Parisian streets, mixed with naked models, animals, still life elements and an infinite number of small details covering the floors and walls of the stage space.
The mental theater mise-en-scene system allows the artist to break away from the usual photographic image, create a paradoxical metaphysical space in which each of the characters, as in the opera action, plays its part, while remaining an independent element connected with the others only by the will of the artist.
Anton Solomukha continues citing painting classics in 2009 in the series “Little Red Riding Hood visited Chernobyl ”. The method of ironic allegory allows us to build reminiscences of the Louvre paintings in the morbid scenery of the Chernobyl disaster .
