Sagarmatha National Park ( Nepalese सगरमाथा ) is located in the Himalayas in the territory of Nepal , northeast of the capital Kathmandu , in province 1 , Solukhumbu region.

The territory occupies 1148 km² of the Himalayas ecological zone. The status of the national park was assigned in July 1976.
Geography
The park consists mainly of rugged rugged lands and gorges of the Upper Himalayas . The height of the territories ranges from 2845 m (Monjo) to 8848 m (Mount Sagarmatha ) above sea level .

The park includes the upper basins of the Dudh Kosi and Bhot Kosi rivers.
In the eastern part of the park at an altitude of 5 km above sea level is one of the fastest growing and most dangerous Himalayan lakes - Imja Tso [1] [2] .
The largest settlements: Namche Bazar , Kumdzhung , Dole, Mochermo, Tyangboche , Pangboche, Monjo, Perice.
Etymology
Translated from Nepali, " Sagarmatha " means " Mother of the Gods ."
