The newspaper highlights the social, economic and political aspects of Altai life. Materials on the language and culture of Altai people are published.
Currently it is published 2 times a week (Tuesday, Friday) on 8-16 pages of A3 format. The circulation of 3210 copies [1] . In the 1960s, it came out 5 times a week with a circulation of more than 5 thousand copies [2] .
The newspaper was founded in 1922 under the name "Kyzyl Solun Tabysh" (Red News). Since 1923 - Oirot Heri (Oirot Territory), since 1925 - Kyzyl Oirot / Kротzl Ojrot (Krasnaya Oirotiya). The modern name is from January 1948 . The newspaper was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor .
An Altai writer and poet K. Ch . Telesov worked in the newspaper. The publication in Russian is called " Star of Altai ".
