Krasovitsky, Alexander Vitalievich

Alexander Krasovitsky

Aleksandr Vitalievich Krasovitsky (born October 17, 1967 in Kharkov , USSR ) is a Ukrainian publisher, general director and main owner of the Kharkov publishing house .

He graduated from the Department of Chemistry of Kharkov State University . In 1990, he founded and headed the Kharkov publishing house Folio. In 2003-2004 and 2005-2007, he was appointed chairman of the board of the Kharkov book factory named after Frunze [1] . In November 2004 - February 2007, he served as deputy chairman of the board of the state joint-stock company Ukrizdatpolygraphy, which owns shares in 30 printing enterprises of Ukraine [1] .

In 2003, Folio released 458 new items with a total circulation of more than 2.7 million copies [2] . By 2004, the Folio Publishing House published over 16 thousand titles of books that are sold in Ukraine, Russia, and far abroad [2] . In 2004, he took 86th place in the hundred most influential people in Ukraine according to the journal "Correspondent" [3] .

In 2016, Alexander Krasovitsky supported the complete ban on Russian books expressed by Ostap Semerak. Krasovitsky believes that the Ukrainian book market has always been in the shadow of Russia, and now there is a chance to create his own market through a complete ban on Russian books, so that people are forced to buy Ukrainian books. [4] Ruslan Bortnik, director of the Ukrainian Institute for Policy Analysis and Management, believes that the folio’s support for the ban on the import of books is “a trivial struggle for the market, for crowding out competitors from this market,” whose books are (Russian) more competitive. Since September 2016, due to obscene communication of A. Krasovitsky with sellers, the магазинов store chain has stopped working with him and his publishing house [6] .
