Biography
Born on December 14, 1957 in the village of Gaziyan, Kubatly district . In 1979 , receiving a diploma with honors, he graduated from the Azerbaijan State Institute of Physical Education. Before being drafted into the army, he worked as a physical education teacher in a secondary school in the village of Dondarly, Kubatly District. After military service in 1982, Aliyar was invited to work at Saransk State University. He returned to his native district in 1983. In 1985, after teaching in secondary school, he was elected to the post of chairman of the regional council of the Voluntary Society for Physical Culture and Sport.
Aliyar Aliyev repeatedly became the winner of the republican, allied and world competitions in the classical struggle. About ten of his mentors became champions of the republic and the former USSR, and also presented themselves to the Olympic team. He was the first coach of the silver medalist of the 2004 Olympic Games in Greco-Roman wrestling, the 2002 world champion, Azerbaijani from Russia, Heydar Mammadaliyev [1] .
Karabakh war
After the start of open hostilities, he was one of the first to voluntarily go to the front.
On December 28, 1991, Aliyar’s fighters delivered a sizeable blow to the enemy advancing in the direction of the villages of Farajan and Koyaal. Participated in repelling the attack of the Armenian forces on the height of Topadagach [2] .
In April 1992, he was appointed commander of the battalion. Aliyev carried out operational measures to strengthen the defense line along the border with the Kafan, Goris regions of Armenia and the Hadrut regions of Azerbaijan. [3]
After the Armenians occupied the Lachin region , the Aliyev battalion launched an operation to free him.
On October 3, 1992, in the battle on the hill of Shurumbashi of the Lachin region, Aliyar died heroically [2] .
Aliyar was married, left two sons and one daughter.
Memory
By the Decree of the President of Azerbaijan No. 301 dated November 10, 1992, Aliyar Yusif oglu Aliyev was awarded the title of National Hero of Azerbaijan.
He was buried in his native village Gaziyan.
One of the streets of Baku city and the battalion created by Aliyar Aliyev bear his name.
