Achara ( Georgian: აჭარა , Adjara ) is a republican Georgian-language newspaper published in the Adjarian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic . In the Soviet period, it was a body of the Adjara regional committee and the Batumi city committee of the Communist Party of the Georgian SSR , as well as the Councils of Workers' Deputies of the Adjarian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. At present, it is the largest newspaper in Adjara .

History
The newspaper was founded on March 18, 1921. Names:
- 1921-1922 - “Utskebebi” (“Izvestia”),
- 1922-1923 - “Proletaruli Brdzola” (“Proletarian Struggle”),
- 1923-1924 - “Brdzola” (“The Struggle”),
- 1924-1929 - “Puhara” (“Poor Man”),
- 1929-1936 - “Sabchota Adzharistani” (“Soviet Adzharistan”),
- 1936 - early 1990s - “Sabchota Ajara” (“Soviet Ajaria”),
- since the early 1990s - a modern name.
In the 1970s, it came out 5 times a week with a circulation of 40 thousand copies [1] .
