Sports career
Club career
The first club in Chayanek’s professional career was the Czechoslovak Zlin , in which he made his debut at the age of 18. In total, the attacker spent 9 years in a team from his hometown and during this time managed to become one of its leaders. He is the record holder of the Extra League by the number of goals in one match: on March 3, 1998 he scored 6 goals into the goal of Opava [1] .
At the 2001 draft, Chayanek was selected by St. Louis under the general 253nd number, after which he spent another season at Zlin. This season was the most successful for the Czech in terms of personal statistics - then Chayanek spent 49 matches and scored 64 (20 + 44) points.
Before the start of the 2002/2003 season, the striker moved overseas and made his debut in the NHL . In his first season, Chayanek spent 51 matches and chalked up 38 (9 + 29) points. During the lockout, the hockey player returned to the Czech Republic and played the season with Zlina - 49 matches and 25 (10 + 15) points.
In the course of the 2006/07 season, St. Louis has been replaced by the head coach - Andy Murray came to replace . Chayanek spent a rather successful season in the NHL, which did not prevent the new head coach from putting the hockey player on the rejection draft. There were no clubs wishing to be strengthened by Chayanek, and St. Louis signed a minimum contract with him.
Season 2007/08 Chayanek began at the farm club, but this situation was not suitable for the experienced striker, and he decided to move to Russia [2] . On October 21, 2007, the hockey player signed with Ak Bars a one-year contract with a salary of 900 thousand dollars [3] . As part of the Kazan club, the Czech held 43 matches and scored 44 (18 + 26) points.
In May 2008, an experienced striker entered into an agreement with Moscow Dynamo for a period of one year [4] . As part of Dynamo, Chayanek won the 2008 Spengler Cup , becoming the tournament's best sniper (5 goals), having scored 3 goals in the final match against Canada [5] . In 2009, Chayanek moved to St. Petersburg SKA [6] .
Before the start of the season 2011/2012 he returned to his native "Zlin" [7] . In 2014, as a captain, he led Zlin to victory in the Czech extra-league [8] , became the top scorer in the playoffs and received the prize for the most valuable playoffs hockey player.
In March 2015, he completed his professional career [9] . On January 13, 2019, Pyotr Chayanek's sweater with number 16 was raised under the arch of the Ludek Chaika winter stadium before the Czech Championship game between Zlin and Pardubice [10] .
Team Career
The debut in the Czech national team took place in 1995. Since then, Chayanek began to regularly be called up to the national team and won three world championships with her (2000, 2001, 2005). In addition, the striker took part in three Olympics - 2002 in Salt Lake City, 2006 in Turin, when the Czech team won bronze medals, and in 2010 in Vancouver. In total, he played 153 games for the Czech national team , scored 73 (35 + 38) points.
