Biography
Born in the family of the pastor of the town of Steinau an der Strasse, Friedrich Grimm the Younger (1707-1777) and Christina Elizabeth Heilmann (1715-1754). He studied law at the Higher Landscape School in Hanau, the Higher School in Herborn and at the Law Faculty of Marburg University . In 1778 he received the position of lawyer in the Court of Appeal of Hanau. Soon he joined the magistrate, where in 1782 he took the post of city registrar, and in 1787 the post of City Secretary. At the same time, in 1782, he received the post of Zemstvo registrar amta Büchertal ( German: Büchertal ) in the county of Hanau [1] . In 1791, he left his previous posts in connection with receiving the post of Amtman of the Steinau County, where he moved with his wife and five sons: Jacob , Wilhelm , Karl, Ferdinand and Ludwig . In Steinau, F.V. Grimm also combined several posts: he was not only the chief official of the district, but at the same time the zemstvo judge and local notary. Such a heavy load forced him to devote himself to service literally all the time, despite fatigue or illness. In 1796, the common cold he received developed into bilateral pneumonia , from which he died at the age of 44, in the prime of his life and career. The large house built for Amtmann Grimm in the center of Steinau today is the Grimm Brothers Memorial Museum [2] .
