(57) Mnemosyne ( lat.Mnemosyne ) - an asteroid of the main belt , which belongs to the light spectral class S. It was discovered on September 22, 1859 by the German astronomer Robert Luther at the Düsseldorf Observatory and named after the titanide Mnemosyne , the daughter of Uranus and Gaia, the goddess who embodied the memory in ancient Greek mythology [2] .
