Biography and career
Born in Antwerp in 1945 in a working class family. In 1965 , she became a member of The Adams pop orchestra , whose drummer Marc Hoyois later married. The first single "Kussen onder regenbogen", recorded under the stage name Anne Christie, was in the mother tongue of the singer in Dutch. For some time, without much success, she worked with entrepreneur Milo De Coster.
The French Period and First Success
With the beginning of cooperation with the second entrepreneur Robert Bylois, who organized a French and Belgian repertoire with Salvatore Adamo in France , the creative biography of Anne Christie begins a period focused on the French-speaking audience and gave impetus to her successful stage career. The first French album “Alors, dis-moi ton nom” [1] is released .
The first major success came with a victory in 1968 at the international Knokke-Heist song festival . The same year was marked by victory at another festival “La Camera d'argent” of the Belgian Society of Cinematographers under the auspices of the television and radio company RTBF [2] with the song “Le garçon que j'aimais”, which became a megahite in Belgium. In the same year she was awarded the Belgian Authors Union Award (Société des auteurs de Belgique - SABAM ) ” [1] .
Music Competitions and Eurovision
In the next few years, trying to conquer the foreign scene, he actively participated in international music competitions. In 1971, 1973 and 1974 represents Belgium at the international song festival "Yamaha" ( Japan ) [2] . In the same years, she participated in almost all competitions of the countries of the Eastern Bloc, including in Sopot , Bratislava, performed at song competitions in Innsbruck ( Austria ), Athens ( Greece ), Caracas ( Venezuela ), represents Belgium in the framework of the international UNICEF project [2] .
In 1970, 1971 (with the song "Dag vreemde man", one of the most famous on the track record of the singer), as well as 1973 [3] . seeks the right to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest . In 1975, these attempts were successful. With the song " Gelukkig zijn ", performed in two languages - Dutch and English - Anne Christie performed in Stockholm , where she took 15th place.
Further career

In 1977, she played in 152 musical productions based on Shakespeare's play “A Midsummer Night's Dream” in Mechelen [3] .
In 1978, Bob Dylan wrote two songs for Anne Christie: “Walk out in the rain” and “If I don't be there by morning”.
In 1980, the song “De Roos” (in Dutch, originally “The Rose” by Bette Midler ) was a great success in Belgium. In 2008, she led the top 1000 pop classics following a Radio 2 poll. [3]

A successful studio and touring activity of the singer was interrupted by a serious illness. Anne Christie Died of Cancer in 1984
After her death, songs performed by Anne Christie were repeatedly reprinted, published and not published during her lifetime.
