Story
The pathologist gives the grieving parents of the deceased girl a cross. Further, the action is transferred to the morgue, where the pathologist along with his assistant reveals the corpse. After the autopsy, the assistant leaves, and the pathologist remains alone with another corpse - the girl. After several violent acts against the girl, the pathologist begins having sex with her. At the same time, he photographs his actions.
Creation History
The idea for the film originated with Nacho Cerda in Los Angeles, two months before he began writing the script. [1] In view of the fact that the director did not see films that were fully focused on the subject of autopsy and the death of a man, he decided to base this topic on, for the medical environment and doctors always interested Cerd:
I thought about the constant advancement, about creating something unusual, which would allow me to receive funding for the implementation of my future projects. However, this proved to be an extremely difficult task, because the subject itself was very controversial - Nacho Cerda. [one]
Before filming the film, Cerda consulted with a real forensic expert and even, at the invitation of the latter, was present at three autopsies in a row. [1] The same film was shot in the real morgue located in Barcelona.
Actors cast
Two models were used as corpses, as well as a real person (according to the scenario, he played a corpse infected with AIDS). During the filming of the actor constantly experienced inconvenience due to the fact that for a long time he had to lie completely naked on a cold sectional table. For his work, the actor received $ 100. [1] The role of the pathologist was played by actor Pep Tosar .
Artistic features
Main theme of the film.
Many critics have considered the film pornographic. At the same time, the director does not consider him vulgar, pornographic and cruel, and such a graphic narration was intentionally introduced. According to the director, he wanted to make such a film, after which a person would think about really serious things:
Yes, this is a topic about death, and I suppose one way or another, people think about death in their lives. They understand that someday they will die, and some people calmly accept it, and the other part can not accept it, which leads to a nervous breakdown. I myself experienced several nervous breakdowns, and therefore I wanted to make a film in order to share my thoughts on this matter. But this is not a violent film, not a bloody horror film, I wanted people to think about it. And this is also not misogyny, even though violence is taking place in the film. I think this film is against cruelty, it is a film against the manipulation of the human body. But in order to clarify this point of view, I had to show real violence - Nacho Cerda. [one]
Religious aspect
The film has some religious overtones, as in the course of its action can be found crucifixion and cross. As the director himself notes, the film quite clearly shows that something religious is happening, with a strong ritualistic aspect. [one]
