It flows in Tyrol , in the Ötztal valley. It flows through the valley from south to north, on the northern edge of the valley flows into the Inn River, 8 km east of Imst . The river is one of the largest tributaries of the Inn River.
The length is about 35 km, the basin area is 984 km².
