Biography
He graduated from the State Institute of Cinematography (GIK, 1931). He worked as the main videographer with Alexander Rowe on imperishable films based on Russian fairy tales, such as “ Vasilisa the Beautiful ”, “ By the Pike ”.
He also worked on the films “ First printer Ivan Fedorov ”, “Aswan - the hope of Egypt” (1961), “Autographs on ice” (1962), “Flowers on fabrics” (1953), “At the edge of the snowy desert” (1959), “Open peace ”(1964),“ Serving the Soviet Union ”(1968). A landmark film was the film "We are from the Urals", filmed in an evacuation in Stalinabad in 1943. Independent work - the documentary film "March - April" (1963, screenwriter, director of photography, Mosfilm).
Ivan Gorchilin was able to find a shooting point in order to capture the necessary plans, build a director’s line and convey the beauty of the moment.
Ivan Dmitrievich participated in historical filming in 1943 in Tehran during a meeting of the heads of three allied powers: Roosevelt, Churchill and Stalin in the capital of Iran.
Ivan Gorchilin died on March 25, 1972. He was buried at the Vagankovsky cemetery.
