Career
Batista began his career at the Internacional club in 1973 and has been playing for this club for 7 years. With Inter, he became the 5-time champion of the state of Rio Grande do Sul and the 3-time champion of Brazil . And also began to volunteer first in the youth, and then in the first national team of Brazil . As part of the national team, he, at that time, was a participant in the 1976 Olympics , where he spent all 5 games, as well as the 1978 World Cup , where he played 7 games, becoming the bronze medalist of the championship.
In 1980, Batista moved to Gremio , in which he won his 4th Brazilian title, as well as the 6th state title. In 1982, Batista participated in the national team at the World Cup , where he spent only 1 game, replacing Zico in the composition against Argentina . In a match with Argentina, he received a blow from Diego Maradona , after which the Argentine striker was removed from the field. In 1983, Batista moved to Palmeiras , where he spent only 14 games and left for Italy. In Italy, Batista spent one and a half seasons at Lazio and half a season with Avellino . He ended his career as a Batista in his homeland, where he played for the Avai club, with whom he became the champion of Santa Catarina in 1988.
Now Batista works as a TV commentator on RBS TV, Sportv and Globosat.
