Development Prospects
In accordance with the reform plans, the following changes are made:
- The 14th mechanized brigade of the 1st Infantry Division (headquarters in Maracaibo, Zulia state) is relocated to the western regions of the country closer to the borders with Colombia
- The 53rd Forest Infantry Brigade of the 5th Forest Infantry Division is deployed to the full 5th battalion staff without changing its deployment
- The 49th ground defense air defense brigade is being redeployed to new Russian-made air defense systems (the type of air defense system has not been announced)
- 11th Infantry Brigade (Fort Mara. Zulia) of the 1st Infantry Division is redeployed as the 11th Armored Brigade with rearmament to Russian tanks
- The 44th Armored Cavalry Brigade (San Juan de los Morros Guarico) of the 4th Armored Division (Maracay. Aragua) was reorganized into the 43rd Artillery Brigade
- 41st Armored Brigade (41 Brigada Blindada) is re-equipped with T-72B1V, BMP-3 and BTR-80A
- The 25th Armored Brigade (25 Brigada Blindada) is re-equipped with the T-72B1V, BMP-3 and BTR-80A
- The 9th Motorized Division retains one mechanized brigade
- The 1st and 2nd infantry divisions, according to the new schedule, have one tank brigade each, with simultaneous rearmament on the T-72B1V, BMP-3 and BTR-80, air defense systems, control, artillery
- All armored brigades are brought to a single state with the deployment of fourth battalions on BMP-3. The main tanks in the state are T-72B1V, and before the arrival of a sufficient number of new tanks, the old AMX-30s are also used.
The 41st armored brigade (with relocation from Fort Mar, Zulia to Maracay, Aragua) became the first formation, which switched to a new staffing in 2010. The first batch of 35 T-72B1V is intended for the 414th tank battalion of this brigade (previously armed with AMX-13C.90). In addition to tanks, the connection receives ZU-23-2, self-propelled guns 2S23 "Nona-SVK", BMP-3 and BTR-80A for motorized infantry battalions.
The next unit to be converted to new weapons in 2010 is the 31st Infantry Brigade (Caracas), one of its battalions will become a tank battalion and another one will become a motorized infantry. The team will also receive BMP-3, BTR-80A and other appropriate means.
In 2011, the process of re-equipping ground forces units continued. In addition to the equipment, weapons and property of the above, funds will be received or received to equip the 43rd artillery brigade (in particular, the 9K58 MLRS), the 49th air defense brigade (S-300, modification data vary, presumably PMU-1); MLRS BM-21 and self-propelled guns 2S19 “Msta-S” also come for artillery battalions of line brigades.
In 2013, it was decided within two years to repair and modernize 300 units of armored vehicles (tanks AMX-30V, AMX-13C90, Scorpion 90, KShM FV105 Sultan, BREM FV106 Samson, armored vehicles AMX-13VTT, TPz -1 / YV-83 Fuchs, V-100 / V-150 Commando, Dragoon, and 155-mm self-propelled guns AMX-13 Mle F.3.).
