Biography

Came from freed peasants A.S. Tutolmina. Brother of the architect A. M. Shestakov [3] . In 1809-1813 he served in the Moscow Council of the Deanery [2] .

In 1813-1834 he worked in the Commission for Buildings in Moscow (at first an architect's assistant, and from 1825 - an architect). In 1819-1821 he built the Senate printing house on Theater Square (according to the design of A.F. Elkinsky ). Received the title of architect in 1822, the title of academician in 1825; designed residential buildings in Moscow in accordance with the "model" projects in the style of classicism . After dividing Moscow into five sections in 1824, he observed the First section (Khamovnicheskaya, Novinsky, Prechistenskaya, Arbat and Tverskaya parts), continuing to design classic facades. In 1825, together with O. I. Bove, he “testified” to the decoration of the Petrovsky Theater , the restructuring of the Catherine Palace . He built a number of churches and longline bell towers in the Empire style . In 1832-1835 he built the building of the Provisions warehouses according to the project of V. P. Stasov [2] .

As the head of the 1st category of the Moscow Buildings Commission in 1832, he took part in the creation of the “Architectural Album of the Geometrical Facades of Moscow Buildings” (he owns two sheets: the Assumption Cathedral in the Kremlin and the Church of Clement of Pope on Pyatnitskaya Street). Since 1834 he worked as an architect of the Moscow Treasury Chamber [2] .

He was buried at Kalitnikovsky cemetery [4] .

The widow of F. M. Shestakov in 1844 married the architect A. G. Grigoriev , who was close to the Shestakov family (Grigoriev’s first wife was the sister of the Shestakov brothers) [3] .
