Chief Justice of the United States

The Chief Justice of the United States is the head of the judicial branch of the federal government of the United States and the President of the United States Supreme Court . He is one of nine judges of the Supreme Court; the remaining eight have the status of its members. Under the U.S. Constitution, it holds Senate proceedings on the impeachment of the U.S. President in the event that the lower house of Congress formally charges. According to tradition, during the inauguration of the President of the United States , the newly elected President is sworn in.
