Louguantai ( Chinese 楼观台 寺 ) is a Taoist temple complex in the village of Ta Yu [1] , located in Zhouzhi County, the city of sub-provincial significance of Xi'an , Shaanxi Province of China (70 km west of the city of Xi'an itself ). It is located on the Luguantai Plateau (樓觀臺 / 楼观台) of Zhongnanshan (終 南山) Mountains, the name literally means “Watchtower Platform Monastery” (referring to the ancient border outpost behind which the Great Silk Road began ).
Loughguantai is located at the place where, according to tradition, Lao Tzu created the Tao dojing treaty and handed it over to the Yin Xi Border Guard. [2] [3]
Three kilometers to the west is the famous Daqin Pagoda , where the early Christian community in China was located.
