Robert Burton (c. 1787-1788)
Robert Burton ( Burton , October 20, 1747 - May 31, 1825 ) is an American farmer and politician, an officer in the Revolutionary War, and the owner of plantations in North Carolina , which now contains Vance County . He was a delegate from North Carolina to the 1787 Continental Congress . From 1783 to 1815, the North Carolina General Assembly elected him 13 times to the annual position of the State Council, which was the official advisory panel that controlled the governor from the legislative branch.
