About the album

Unlike the debut album of The ABBA Generation , which was a collection of cover versions of ABBA songs, Teen Spirit consisted of songs written specifically for the group (with the exception of the E-Type cover version of “Morning Light”). In addition, the role of the male part of the collective - Dani Lennevald and Amit Paul became much more noticeable.

Considerable attention was paid to promoting the album in the North American market. “The ABBA Generation” was targeted at a European audience and entered the USA very late in May 2000 (compared to the summer and fall of 1999 in European countries). “Teen Spirit” had a more “American” sound, as a result of which some music critics accused A * Teens of copying Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync [1] , and entered the United States almost simultaneously with the European release - February 27, 2001, on the day later than in Sweden. In support of the album, the group conducted a tour in America, which lasted almost all summer. Compared to the first album, Teen Spirit turned out to be more successful on the Billboard 200 chart and in the fall of 2001 received the status of “gold” in the USA [2] , however, in most other countries it was sold worse than its predecessor. By November 2001, 1.2 million copies of the album were sold worldwide [3] .
